The school is hosting the regional wrestling meet Friday and Saturday. Normally I do not have a problem with this because I support the wrestling program. However when it comes to 15 busses and several hundred other people coming to campus and taking over the parking lot, that’s when things are different.

Instead of being able to park where I normally do, I had to park on the other side of the parking lot (which is okay because I don’t mind walking). But it wasn’t the longer walk that bothered me, it was the fear of me being tardy. Fortunately, I ended up walking in just in time with 14 seconds to spare.

Another student in my class wasn’t as lucky. The teacher told him to go the tardy table. He argued, but eventually went down to get one. After he left, there was an announcement saying to let everyone it because of the parking lot madness.

This changed my tone completely.

Rushing to class, I was ready to complain about the parking lot situation and how the needs of students on campus were being put behind the needs of those attending the regional wrestling meet.

But the administrative decision to let students walk in a couple minutes late without being counted tardy changed forced me to change my tune. Administration handled what could have been a challenging situation greatly and shouldn’t receive any criticism from anyone including teachers.

The fact that the administration is looking out for students makes me happy that I go to here.
