Shooting a 652 over two days at Sherrill Park Golf Course in Richardson was good enough for the girls’ golf team to take second place in the District 9-5A tournament Monday and Tuesday. The Redhawks join District 9-5A champion Lebanon Trail in the 5A Region II tournament Monnday.

It’s on to the 5A Region II tournament for the girls’ golf team as the Redhawks finished in second place in the District 9-5A tournament at Sherrill Park Golf Course in Richardson.

Lebanon Trail was the class of the tournament shooting a 614, with the Redhawks 652, two strokes better than Centennial.

“Frisco ISD is home to several of the top girls’ teams in the State, so advancing is a tremendous accomplishment as only two teams advance,” head coach Shannon Glidwell wrote in an email. “These girls played 36 holes of golf over the last two days in rain, wind, brisk temperatures, and a pressure-packed environment.”

The 5A Region II tournament is scheduled for April 19-20, giving the girls several weeks to work on their game.

“Personally I’ll be working on my swing and hitting the ball more consistently and getting stronger,” senior Lizzy Stone said.
