Win streak at 9 as baseball closes in on playoff spot

The Redhawks continue to soar on the baseball field with the team winning its 9th straight game Friday as they took down Frisco 7-0.
Sitting atop the District 9-5A standings with just three games left, the team is close to locking down a playoff spot.
“We are optimistic about making playoffs,” senior Will Glatch said. “We are one game away from qualifying so it is pretty big. We have a big game coming up on Tuesday to decide if we will potentially win district as well.”
Making sure that they optimize their performance however possible, the team has a routine that they stick to before each game.
“We have a pre-game ritual that we start before every game and we had put together a plan for them and they execute,” assistant coach Justin Lopez said.
However, more than solely relying on their superstitions, Lopez believes that the team also gives it their all the moment they step onto the field.
“They come out ready to play, with a lot of energy and they are the ones doing all of the executing on the field,” he said. “I’m really proud of how they came out. They came out, they dominated, they set the tone early. We had a great pitching performance but overall it was really just a great performance from everybody.”
Ultimately, the team believes that their hard work thus far is enough to help them end the season successfully with the playoffs fast approaching.
“We are coming together as a team and everybody is producing,” Glatch said. “I feel like everybody is starting to peak at right about the perfect time for playoffs. I am feeling super good going into the postseason and if we can just finish the regular season out on a good note and just play as we have been, I think we are going to continue playing for a long time.”
