In the last regular game of the season, the boys’ basketball team cranked out a win, beating Lone Star 64-30. In the first quarter, the team jumped out to a 21-5 lead courtesy of multiple turnovers that were converted to easy baskets.

From there, things didn’t slow down much as the team continued to hold a big lead against the Rangers. Defense was key for Tuesday’s game as the Rangers didn’t score more than ten points in any of the first three quarters, trailing 51-16 at the end of the third.

In the fourth, head coach Marcus Eckert cleared the bench as the team pulled away for the 34 point win leaving them with a 15-1 finish in District 9-5A.

The boys will compete in the first round of playoffs against Wylie on Monday at Plano Senior at 7 p.m.

In addition to the basketball win, boys’ and girls’ soccer notched wins as well. Boys’ soccer beat Independence 2-1 with goals from Seth Picasso and Matthew Lay.

In girls’ soccer action, the team beat the Knights 6-1. Madi Timmons and Cat Lychwyk each scored two goals with two additional goals scored by Kaci Parks and Hannah Anderson.

Both teams will take on Heritage on Friday at 7:15 p.m. with the boys at home and the girls at Heritage.
