This week I want to talk about one of my favorite hip hop albums I Decided by Big Sean. This album is definitely one of my favorite Big Sean albums. It’s got fantastic production and some funny and sometimes serious lyrics.

I think what makes this album so good is that it’s got such a variety of producers that worked on it. Kanye West and Big Sean were executive producers but Metro Boomin, Hitmaka, and Travis Scott also contributed to its production. These artists are famous for knowing their way around beats and rhymes so I wanted to show them some appreciation.

Here are my top three from this album. “Bounce Back,” “Jump Out The Window,” and “No Favors” featuring Eminem. “Bounce Back” is one of my favorite songs actually and that’s because you can tell that part of it comes from a personal place for Big Sean and then the rest of it is just silly stuff. It always reminds me that no matter how many rock bottoms you hit, you will always bounce back.

“Jump Out The Window” is another one of my favorite songs simply because it’s got something we can all relate to. There is a lyric that always sticks out to me: “the question isn’t do he love you the question is do you love yourself?” It always sticks out to me because it reminds me to never forget my own worth no matter who I am with. Self-respect above anything is key in life and this song never fails to remind me.

Last but not least is “No Favors” featuring Eminem. Now this song was pretty awesome to me because I love Big Sean and Eminem, and at the time this album came out Eminem was only doing features and hadn’t dropped an album in a while. So I bled this song dry and listened to it all the time because I needed new Eminem content badly. But this song is special to me because the rhyme scheme that Big Sean used was amazing and the transition into Em’s verse was so pleasing.

This album was a blessing for me because I’ve always loved hip hop and rap, but I felt like no one was making good music anymore, so when it dropped I was really happy. I do have an honorable mention and that is “Moves.” It’s a pretty short song but I never get bored of how pleasing it is to listen to.

Big Sean is a really great rapper and I really hope he continues his work and surprises us all.
