With the school year ending Friday, Wingspan is counting down the top sports moments of the 2020-2021 year.

Coming in at #4, the Redhawks baseball team makes it to the playoffs for the first time six years.

“At the beginning of the season we were ranked fourth in district,” senior Will Glatch said. “Obviously that gave us a chip on our shoulder to be like, ‘we’re going to win district. We’re going to show everybody that we’re better than the teams they picked above us.’’

While the team finished second in District9-5A and lost in the first round of the playoffs to Rock Hill, players such as senior Ben Anderson learned lessons beyond the field.

“As a whole the season went really well,” senior Ben Anderson said. “Baseball really emphasized my focus on the things that you can control and taught me to work hard regardless of the circumstances.”
