The auditorium was renovated over the summer, leaving the fine arts departments with upgraded systems to use including a new sound system, a new portable sound system, new LED lights, new stage curtains, and upgrades on the fly rail.

“When you first get into the auditorium, it looks pretty much the same, but when we start doing stuff with the lights and sound there will be a clear difference,” sophomore Ananya Kulkarni said.

The theatre room was renovated as well.

“We also got LEDs in the black box theatre, it now has sound capabilities, all of the curtains were also replaced, which was great, because the old ones had holes in them,” tech theatre teacher Laura Darce said.

The upgrades will allow students to work with more advanced technology and put on better looking and better sounding productions and concerts.

“We used to have speakers that would always pop, and obviously our curtain fell during one of the shows, so I’m really excited that we’re getting upgraded technology,” Kulkarni said. “We’re going to be able to do a lot more with our lights and sound, because this new stuff has a lot more capabilities.”

Darce believes that the new systems will benefit students and the theatre department.

“We’re preparing students for the future, so it’s always wonderful to work with the latest technology that’s going to prepare them for real life situations,” Darce said. “And it will hopefully increase the effectiveness of lights and sound in our productions.”
