The oldest football stadium in Frisco, once known as Memorial, is now being renamed Kuykendall Stadium in honor of former FISD coach and athletic director, David Kuykendall. The stadium will also be receiving a new video board for the purpose of enhancing game-day experience for fans and athletes alike.

The oldest football stadium in Frisco is undergoing some changes.

Although it still says Memorial Stadium, it was officially re-named David Kuykendall Stadium back in May to honor the recently retired long-time Frisco ISD coach and athletic director, David Kuykendall.

“Coach K has been in the district for 28 years and he had 18 coaches when he first came to Frisco and we are at right around 590 coaches now,” FISD athletic director Grace McDowell said. “He had a big hand in hiring those coaches, especially our leadership at each campus and instilling our values here in Frisco ISD when it comes to athletics. Our goal is to always win championships but, really our purpose is to have students grow up and just be good people.”

Kuykendall Stadium also has had a new video board for football game days that should be up and running any day.

“It’s really gonna add to the game day experience to give it a hometown feel and really make it feel like a home stadium for our home teams by producing graphics and different fan engagement that is really specific to that home team,” McDowell said.
