Wrestling came out on top in their first dual of the season versus Birdville on Wednesday.

“The girls and guys both gave good effort against their opponents,” Senior De’leon Freeman said via text. “We need to work on setups to a shot, our neutral game, and our top game in terms of hip pressure.”

Senior Sarah Ramos also recognizes the need for improvement, and went into the match with an eye for mistakes.

“I anticipated seeing the areas where improvements needed to be made,” Ramos said via text.

With the season just beginning, practice time is key according to Ramos.

“I think the time we’ve spent in the mat room has been the most important part of getting ready for the season,” she said. “Each day we’ve been coming in to improve our wrestling abilities and our strength for the next couple of months.”
