In a weekend of many matches, The Redhawks came out victorious over McKinney Boyd. For both the girls’ and boys’ teams, the meets were a success.

Hitting the mat Thursday by winning a dual meet against McKinney Boyd and progressing through the weekend with tournaments, the Redhawks wrestling team had a busy few days.

“We absolutely crushed Boyd,” junior Brayden Schueler said. “We stayed aggressive and fought strong.”

Senior De’leon Freeman knows this success firsthand, earning a tournament win at the Frisco Memorial.

“For me it was about sticking to my game plan,” Freeman said via text. “I paid extra attention to my footwork, no throwing and fast shots.”

While the boys were off at the Frisco Memorial tournament, the girls took on the Texas Women’s Wrestling Classic.

For sophomore Taylor Clapp the tournament was another opportunity to grow in preparation for district.

“Both men and women’s teams went against some difficult competition that showed us where we are struggling,” Clapp said via text. “We also learned more about our unique styles of wrestling and had a chance to scout out competition for state.”
