Redhawk basketball heads back to the Nest this Friday for a home game against the Wakeland Wolverines. The Redhawks will be defending their court this Friday as their last few games required the teams to travel within the district.

It is a battle of the undefeated in district play when the Redhawk boys’ basketball team faces the Independence Knights Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. at The Nest.

“Our goal for this game is like for any other game, we’re going to approach it and really respect the opponent,” head coach Stephen Friar said. “Really again just stay hungry and make sure we’re always striving to get better and just keep being humble and doing the right thing.”

With a win against Wakeland last week, the Redhawks are hoping to keep the same energy going into Tuesday’s game.

“We need to be able to play a full game,” junior Matthew Bishop said. “And not let Independence go on any big runs.”

Freshman Jacobe Coleman feels his team needs to bring their best efforts in order to secure the win.

“My goal is to play hard,” Coleman said. “We want to play team ball and just communicate with the team and go get the win.”

Staying consistent and reliable throughout the game is something the team has been working on in preparation for Tuesday’s game.

“I think the biggest thing they need to improve upon is just being more consistent throughout the game,” assistant coach Bruce Wright said. “It seems like since we have kind of a young group there are times in the game where what we are trying to do on offense and defense kind of dips a little bit. But if we can put a full game together where we don’t have those mental lapses or inconsistencies, I think we can be pretty scary.”
