Winter Extravaganza is here for the holidays

Band and orchestra students are coming together Tuesday and Wednesday at 7 p.m. to perform together as part of their winter concerts in the auditorium. This yearly tradition serves as a chance for students to connect over music.

For most of the year, the various parts of the fine arts department conduct individual performances. However, as the winter holiday season arrives band, orchestra, choir, as well as other groups come together in the Winter Extravaganza.

“[Winter Extravaganza] started about 4 years ago when we kind of wanted to do something where we could all work together and bring the community together while also raising money for charity,” Choir Director Toni Ugolini said. “I think the collaboration is good because it brings a whole other audience in. For example, band and orchestra parents get to see what choir is doing and vice versa. And you get to hear all types of music that you might otherwise not get to.”

With weeks of individual preparation, fine arts student Jacqueline Wallace is looking forward to everyone coming together.

“I feel really good about the winter extravaganza,” Wallace said.  “I feel like its a fantastic opportunity for the whole fine arts program to combine together to make one finished product for the school to enjoy.”

It will be a busy two nights for senior Simon Pham who has to juggle between two different performances: Red Rhythm and band.

“It is a little bit hard in the morning, because I have overlapping rehearsals,” senior Simon Pham said. “My directors understand when I have to go to another, and they would let me go to rehearsal.”

Tickets for Wednesday and Thursday shows are $10 each and can be purchased at Libertyhsband.ludus.com with teachers and staff members having the opportunity for free tickets.
