Competing in the Rumble at The Rock on Friday and Saturday, the wrestling teams saw improvement placing the highest out of the district teams at the tournament. Their results against tough competition give them motivation heading further into the season.

Four wrestlers, seniors De’leon Freeman and Slater Eggen, as well as juniors Mercede Alvarez and James-Ethan Harris placed in the top five of their weight classes in the Trojan Classic Tournament.

“I am still a little under-experienced,” Harris said. “And that means I am weaker at scrambling and positions you can only get in during live matches.”

Though no Redhawk was able to claim first overall, many like Harris believe the competition was another strengthening event along the course of the season.

“Overall, it was a good experience to go see different competition from all over the state,” Harris said. “I’ve been working on being mat-smart and it is something I did well this weekend.”
