After an unexpected break in their district season, soccer walks away with double draws in games against Lone Star. Following through with their rescheduled game, the teams look to face up to the Reedy Lions.

The Redhawks met the Lone Star Rangers on the field on Tuesday, but both walked away with tied scores.

Early in the game at The Nest, the girls led 2-0, but could not hold off the Rangers ending with a 2-2 draw.

“The team played well, ” senior Kennedy Clountz said. “We could have finished more opportunities on goal, but overall we did good and ended with a 2-2 draw.”

Meanwhile, the boys’ team traveled to Lone Star where they walked away with similar results, a 0-0 draw.

The boys still remain first in District 9-5A, and the draw on Tuesday brings their record to an undefeated 5-0-3.

“I think our team’s strengths right now is that we have a group of guys that never quit,” head coach Evan McGee said. “And they don’t back down and they’re not scared of whoever they’re playing. So they always have a lot of confidence going into the game, and they always bring a good level of energy.”

After the cancellation of last Friday’s game due to weather, the Redhawks take the field again Wednesday when the girls kick off at 5:30 p.m. and the boys at 7:15 p.m. at Reedy High School.

“Tonight’s game is going to be tough against a good Reedy team,” Clountz said. “It should be a competitive game and hopefully we come out with a win.”
