From 2020 to 2021, the Dallas Fort-Worth area had an increase of almost 100,000 new residents, making it the fastest growing area in the United States.

Among one of the most popular places, new residents are calling home is Frisco.

“There’s just an energy and a buzz here,” Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney said. “We’re named the number one place to live, great schools, you know,  just kind of a thriving area. It’s a place where people want to live, it’s a place where people want to invest their money, and certainly do business with.”

According to Cheney, one of the greatest appeals is Frisco ISD.

“The school district is our number one recruiting tool,” Cheney said. “You know, when I go around asking people why they moved here, that’s the number one answer that I get, is that there’s great schools here in Frisco. It’s undeniable.”

In addition, many immigrants have moved to the DFW area as well, contributing to the population growth.

“The D-FW metro area added more than 48,000 new immigrant residents in 2019,” according to an article from WFAA. “No other metro area in the country added more immigrants during the same year.”

Senior Annika Roberts believes Frisco and the DFW area are growing so rapidly due to all the new jobs being created.

“A lot of people are moving to Texas from other states, especially California. I think mostly because of the tax benefits and also because a lot of technical jobs are being moved here as well,” Roberts said. “Tesla is moving to Texas and I think Amazon has something here too. There are a lot of opportunities to succeed here compared to other places which is why I think so many people are moving.”
