After being posted on Monday, the National Honor Society revealed the officers for the 2022-2023 school year, featuring historian Henry Nguyen, secretary Rachel Kim, vice-president Riya Khosla, and president Athena Tseng.

“I’m so excited that I was elected,” junior Athena Tseng said. “I’m really grateful for everyone who voted as a whole. Even if you voted for me or you didn’t vote for me, I am just super happy to have this opportunity to represent us as their president next year.”

“ Honestly, at first, I was surprised that I was elected to serve as an NHS officer next year,” junior Rachel Kim said. “However, after overcoming my “shock,” I felt honored to be an officer and grateful for those who supported me throughout my campaign journey!”

For Tseng, her hopes lie in the time spent by the program’s members, in hopes they’ll enjoy the opportunities granted.

“As president, I really want to ensure that students are enjoying and having fun with their service hours and not doing them as like a chore and really putting their passion into what they want to do,” she said. “And I want to be able to find those opportunities for our students.”

Along with fellow officers alongside them, Tseng and Kim have plans for accomplishment.

“I plan on making NHS a stress-free and enjoyable environment by providing appealing and beneficial volunteering opportunities as well as scholarship and college programs for rising seniors and even juniors,” Kim said.

“I’m also super excited to work with the other officers that were elected,” Tseng said. “So Riya, Rachel and Henry, I think we’re gonna make a great team and accomplish a lot of things next year.”
