Boys’ and girls’ basketball make the playoffs

Wingspan is back, counting down the top five sports moments of the 2021-2022 year.

Coming in at #5, both girls’ and boys’ basketball advanced into the playoffs with the girls’ team coming just one game shy of advancing to the state finals.

“It’s been two years since we’ve been to the playoffs,” boys’ head coach Stephen Friar said. “Our only senior was the only person a part of the playoff program and he was a freshman. We were just excited for the opportunity to play but we were going to compete to win.”

With the two teams cheering each other on, the Month of February was a busy one for the Redhawks.

“Everyone’s mental toughness really shined throughout and I think that helped us prevail,” captain, senior Jazzy Owens-Barnett.
