The final step on the road to state for the Redhawks track and field team takes place Friday and Saturday at the 5A Region II meet at UT Arlington.

With both individuals and relays competing, the girls’ team has several chances to send the Redhawks to state.

“Our team goal is just to go to state as a whole team and not just have one person go or one part of the team go,” senior Jada Williams said. “We really want to accomplish that and I think it’s been a while since the girls as a team have been to state.”

Among the girls competing for a chance at state are the 4×100 and 4×200 relays.

“I’m beyond proud,” senior Cori Ross said. “I feel far more confident now in our mindsets… our chances of making it state are very high.”

“The thought of being able to at state is a really great feeling,” senior Sydney Bishop said. “I feel like we’re finishing what we started and making leaps and bounds this season as far as times.”

On the boys’ side, the defending state champions have just one goal.

“We’re going to work our hardest to get back to state,” senior Cam Wooley said. “That’s the goal right now. Just to get back to state”
