Frisco Fire Safety Town, one of the city’s most well known institutions, is celebrating its 15th anniversary Saturday. The goal of Fire Safety Town is to teach young children how to prevent injuries and respond during emergencies, and many Redhawks have fond memories from past visits.

“I went to Fire Safety Town in third grade,” sophomore Grace Morgan said. “I think it’s a really good idea for kids to interact and engage with each other, and it makes learning about fire safety more interesting.”

Part of Frisco Fire Safety Town’s ability to achieve their goal of educating young students comes from working with Frisco ISD.

“Our education here would not have happened without the wonderful partnership from Frisco ISD,” Frisco Fire Department Community Education Coordinator Leslie Girdner said. “[Frisco ISD] bringing all the kids here each day to learn the safety messages along with all the wonderful sponsors that have continued to contribute to the wonderful education here at Safety Town.”

The anniversary event celebrates Fire Safety Town’s prominent role in Frisco, welcoming over 432,000 visitors to the facility to celebrate the past and the future.

“We’re super excited to have everyone join us on September 17th from 10 to 2 p.m.,” Girdner said. “We think this is a big hug for the city. We’re super excited and we want all of you to come.”
