Aiming for their first win of the season, the football team headed to David Kuykendall Stadium on Friday where they faced the Heritage Coyotes, losing 43-10 in District 6-5A Division I play.

“We started off very well,” assistant coach Elliot Parkman said. “Defensively we forced some turnovers and the offense started off with some big plays. Heritage is a very solid talented team, so mistakes will cost any team playing them. Overall, I thought our athletes battled hard.”

Despite the loss, senior Tristan Paredes feels the team showed what they are capable of.

“We started really well that night and did a great job playing with energy and showing what we’re capable of,” Paredes said. “We just need to keep that up and play with that swag for the rest of the year.”

Although the scoreboard did not reflect a win, Parkman is still optimistic about the rest of the season.

“Our guys are still ready to work, and we will prep to win,” Parkman said. “We just have to take it one day at a time and stack good practices together.”
