The Redhawks choir is performing its first concert of the year Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. “I think the fall concert is a great way to demonstrate where we’re at to start with, and know where to grow from there,” choir director Toni Ugolini said. “I’m really excited to have everybody on the stage and have everybody else hear what we’re working on so far.”

The Redhawk choir is hoping to start its year off on a high note Thursday during its Fall Concert, which will take place in the auditorium at 7 p.m.

Choir director Toni Ugolini sees the performance, which is the first of the year, as a way to gauge where the choir can grow before the UIL competition in the spring.

“I think the fall concert is a great way to demonstrate where we’re at to start with, and know where to grow from there,” Ugolini said. “I’m really excited to have everybody on the stage and have everybody else hear what we’re working on so far.”

From the perspective of senior Aarya Patil, this year’s music selection has stepped up in difficulty level as compared to previous years.

“I’m definitely excited about singing some harder songs than last year,” she said. “We have a song called ‘Dominus Vobiscum,’ which is entirely in Latin and is Acapella, two elements that make it all the more challenging to execute properly. It’s also beautiful the way it sounds and blends, especially when we have volume changes.”

Before taking the stage, choir students will have an opportunity to join in a “potluck” of snacks and games, something Choir President, senior Shriya Pattangi sees as crucial in building relationships between the 3 separate classes.

“This is a big opportunity for all 3 of our choirs to come together, and it’s the first time this year that we have all of us congregated in one area,” Pattangi said. “I am hoping that it will act as a solid social gathering where we can interact with each other and build a strong choir program and mentality for this year.”
