In recent weeks, Kanye West has officially been canceled for the hundredth time. As a HUGE Kanye fan, this was very disappointing. How could I support someone that said such horrible things?

One thing that did not change was the fact that I think Kanye is a great artist. I love all of his music and think his lyrics are very well written. Separating art from the artist is also very important, and it was something I had to learn to do.

On my Apple music replay, Kanye was my top artist, The College Dropout was my most listened to album, and “All Falls Down” was my most played song. I couldn’t just completely cut him out of my playlists because then I wouldn’t have anything to listen to.

Separating the art from the artist is challenging. I still buy clothes from Kanye’s brands, I still buy records of my favorite albums of his, I honestly support him every time I listen to one of his songs. It is something I want to work on because the things Kanye has said are not acceptable.

On the other hand, I feel like mental health is such a big topic for other artists, why is no one pushing for Kanye to get the help he obviously needs? It’s a tricky situation that is difficult to navigate.

In the end, I hope Kanye gets help and fixes the things he has done, but until then, I can not support him as a person, but I also won’t stop listening to his music.
