Wingspan’s featured athlete for 2/9 is varsity basketball player JonJon Dupree-Bufford.

Wingspan: How has your journey in basketball been and what has led up to you playing at this level? 

Dupree: “I’ve been playing basketball ever since the age of 5 and that’s when I really fell in love with the game. Throughout the years I have played for many different teams and have developed my skills as well. I went to Clinton Jr. High in Clinton, MS and moved to Texas going into my freshman year.”

Wingspan: Do you feel like this has been your best year in basketball? What should we expect to see in the future since you’re a senior? 

Dupree: “Yes, I feel like this has been my best year. In the future I will be in college pursuing my basketball career and majoring in Sports Medicine and Psychology or Kinesiology.”

Wingspan: How has your senior season differed from the previous seasons? 

Dupree: “I feel like I have developed my skills and talent throughout my high school career. This has been my best year by far. I was on junior varsity my freshman year then moved up to varsity my sophomore year and have been on varsity ever since.”

Wingspan: What has been or will be your favorite game this season? 

Dupree: “My favorite game this season has been when we played against Heritage at Liberty which was one of the biggest games and we won off of a buzzer beater. The Memorial game on Feb. 14 will be one of my favorite games as well as we are getting prepared to have another big game.”
