Electronic Arts are celebrating its 4th anniversary for Apex Legends by dropping a sizeable season update on Tuesday. This will bring a remastered change to Legend classes’, a brand new weapon, and game-changing nerfs to characters who’ve dominated for the last few seasons.

The most significant update coming with Season 16, codenamed Revelry, is the 5 reworked legend classes being; Assault, Skirmisher, Recon, Controller, and Support. Each legend categorized to their specific class will earn an extra ability that’s unique to that class. For example, Fuse is classed as “Assault” and he’ll be able to open red-colored bins that carry attachments for weapons as well as stack more total ammo within their inventory compared to legends outside the assault class. Some classes seem to have more advantages than others, but overall these class-specific abilities are definitely going to mix up how you want your team to go into the game.

A brand new assault rifle enters the pool of weapons, an energy ammo-based weapon called Nemesis, it starts as a burst. However, as you shoot more and more, the burst delay decreases until it’s like a fully automatic weapon. It packs a punch, dealing 17 damage to the body, and 27 damage to the head, but what makes this viable is that it’ll be shooting 4 shots per burst, and as long as you keep your aim steady, it’ll deal damage. It’s been about 5 seasons since EA dropped a new weapon, so hopefully, this gun delivers and gives players another option than the R-301 or Flatline.

Another notable part of the update are the nerfs and buffs. Season 16 may be the end of the “wall-hacks” meta with the nerfs that are coming to Seer and Bloodhound. Seer will be taking a hard hit to every aspect of his character, moving him off the list of top-tier characters. Players believe Bloodhound is getting more balanced than nerfed, but his reveal ability is being shortened so the “wall-hack” meta is essentially over.

These reworks are going to throw everyone for a loop, at least for the first few weeks after release. Everyone will be testing so many combinations because of all the new things to take into account, it’ll make the battlefield pretty hectic for a bit but I’m genuinely excited to see what the community comes up with and how it’ll play out. Especially the effect these changes will have on the professional scene, because top teams had been so reliant on legends like Seer and Horizon, and now that they have been changed up, they’ll have to mix it up and find the sweet spot.
