The Independence Knights a team on Tuesday in a 6-5 extra inning affair that drops the Redhawks District 10-5A record t0 4-3.

“We didn’t execute the game plan very well, all year we’ve been saying to continue to build the lead even when we’re up, but that didn’t happen,” head coach Scott McGarrh said. “We had a lot of opportunities to do so, but couldn’t close out to get those necessary runs, which coupled with some uncharacteristic errors from the boys did not allow us to succeed.”

A team focused on execution, the Redhawks are looking at what went wrong on Tuesday and making sure they clean it up before their next matchup.

“We got to do better on the pitch, we planned to keep some of their top guys off the bases but it didn’t pan out that way,” senior Jensen Cockrell said. “But I have faith in our guys on the mound, they’re on the younger side of the team, so they’ll make some mistakes here and there, but they’ll clean it up as time goes on.”
