Golf finishes out their season
The Redhawks golf team tee’d off at the Region-II 5A Golf Tournament on Monday and Tuesday, and tied for third place but ultimately lost a one-hole playoff to Lovejoy.
“We played outstanding,” head coach Shannon Glidwell said. “Unfortunately we lost the one hole playoff to Lovejoy, so they go to state in the third spot. We will be the state alternate, but we won’t go most likely.”
Coach Glidwell reflects on a successful year, and a promising season to come in the fall.
“It is still a great season,” Glidwell said. “The girls played fantastic and I am very proud of them. Everybody is returning [next year] so we have a really bright future in front of us.”
For freshman Olivia Murphy, this season taught her about keeping an open mind through everything.
“Regionals didn’t go as we hoped in the end but we all played very hard all throughout this season and got so close to getting out but we are so proud of how everyone did,” Murphy said. “This season has taught me to always have a positive mindset when things get rough and to keep an open mind when trying out new possibilities.”
The Redhawks will hit the course again in the fall, where they are ready to use what they learned throughout this season.
“We didn’t make it to state but we all tried our best and I am really proud of how I did,” sophomore Britney Zhang said. “This season I improved a ton and I got a lot of experience that prepared me for the important tournaments.”
