Those continuing in the UIL Regionals competition will be meeting at UT Arlington Saturday. For many, the time between competitions has been spent preparing and studying for the next round.

After finishing in the top three at the District 5A meet in March, students will be competing at UT Arlignton in events ranging from calculator applications to science.

Among those competing is junior Sadie Johnson, who has been putting in practice to ensure she’s prepared for the competition.

“Basically I already have a class period with my teacher so during the class when I’m finished with my work, usually I practice for the competition and I just make sure that I know what I’m doing and if I’m confused about anything I look it up and so that I’m ready on Saturday,” Johnson said.

Senior Satvik Duddukuru hopes his skills add up to a top finish this year.

“We’re going to Regionals for three different math events. I’ll be doing number sense, calculator applications and general math.”
