Some Redhawks are getting a taste of summer as they participate in the Redhawks annual beach volleyball tournament May 13 from 2-6 p.m. at The Beach at Craig Ranch, to raise money for the program.

“Our sand volleyball tournament is our biggest annual fundraiser for the Redhawks Volleyball booster club,” head volleyball coach Eighmy Dobbins said. “ We have music, games, and prizes which make it a super fun environment for everyone. Our booster club does a fantastic job running the event and making sure all aspects run smoothly.”

This tournament is open to the public and is a yearly favorite for many.

“This tournament is successful because we get lots of people outside of the volleyball program to come out and play in the tournament,” Dobbins said. “It gives our volleyball players a chance to play with some of their friends or family that maybe don’t play as much and they really enjoy it!”

For junior Mary Jane McCurdy, playing in the tournament is the best way to spend her Saturday.

“I love the sand volleyball tournament,” McCurdy said. “It’s a great time to hang out with friends and doesn’t even feel like a fundraiser. My favorite part is getting to play with my friends and just have fun.”Sign ups are open for a registration fee of $25 dollars per person with teams of four, and can be found at www.redhawkvolleyballboosters.org.
