Wingspan: When and why did you start playing volleyball?

McCurdy: “I started playing volleyball in third grade. My parents signed me up for a rec league with all of my friends and I have played ever since!”

Wingspan: What is your favorite part about volleyball?

McCurdy: “My favorite part about volleyball is definitely celebrating a kill or good play with my teammates. It is always so hype on the court and celebrating as a team is so much fun.”

Wingspan: Who is your biggest inspiration?

McCurdy: “My biggest inspiration is my parents. They have shown me how important hard work is, and they both support me in everything I do. I don’t think I would be the athlete I am today without them!”

Wingspan: How have you been preparing/practicing volleyball?

McCurdy: “Since volleyball is pretty much year round, I do all of my club practice in the winter and spring, and school practice in summer and fall. Me and my team have been preparing by giving 100% in practice and it has definitely been paying off!”

Wingspan: What is your goal for this season?

McCurdy: “My goal for the season is to make it the best possible senior season I can. I want to go deep in the playoffs and prove ourselves again. I also want to just make good friendships with the younger girls and have good team chemistry.”

Wingspan: How has volleyball impacted your life?

McCurdy: “Volleyball has impacted my life by being my outlet and giving me my best friends. Anytime I can practice, all I focus on is volleyball and it can get me away from the stresses of life. I have also met most of my best friends through school and club volleyball! It is so fun to have friends all around the DFW metroplex.”

Wingspan: What has been your greatest challenge playing volleyball?

McCurdy: “My biggest challenge has been coming back from breaking my ankle my sophomore year. It was so hard to stay motivated to keep getting better when I was out for 5 months, but once I got back into it I knew I wanted to be back to where I was before.”

Wingspan: What are you excited about this season?

McCurdy: “I am excited to hang out with all of my friends on the team and also work hard to win our district. We are all very motivated and that feeling was so good last year, so I really want to do it again.”

Wingspan: Do you plan on playing volleyball in the future?

McCurdy: “Yes, I am playing at Texas State!”
