18 Redhawks choir students are performing Saturday at the All-Region concert at McKinney North High School.

18 choir students on campus made the  All-Region Choir with two students advancing to Pre-Area Choir. Students who made All-Region choir are performing Saturday at McKinney North High School from 5 – 8 p.m.

“I’m obviously really excited because this is the first year I made pre-area,” junior Sia Parpelli said. “I’m performing with a stronger choice so the music is really beautiful to hear because everyone is the best in the region.”

Students who made All-Region utilized in school sectionals and time outside of school to practice their pieces.

“I prepared by practicing every single day,” Parpelli said. “I played my notes on the piano multiple times, I also made sure to make fake cuts and practice mimicking what we do in all regions. Once the cuts came out I hyperfixated on anything that was wrong and practiced it repeatedly over and over again.”

In addition to getting to perform with all the other All-Region participants, students received a plaque highlighting their achievement.

“The most rewarding part of All Region is the plaque because it shows your accomplishments,” junior Ashvita Suresh Kumar said. “Obviously you’ll always know but that’s a representation of all the love oden that you can put in your room.”

Students who made top five in All-Region Choir will be advancing to Pre-Area Choir.

“The pre-area music is a huge jump in difficulty,” choir director Toni Ugolini said. “The region music was difficult, but this is another level, so students are going to have to work really hard and truly dive into the music to be successful.”
