Students find careers suited to them at CTE fair

Work-based learning, a unique opportunity offered by the CTE Center and Collin College, is an application based program for students. The applications are now open and close Jan. 26.

Students at the CTE Center are collaborating with the college fair at multiple schools, informing students on classes they can take using their own experiences and what could be a possible future for them.

“I think it’s very beneficial for upcoming freshmen to learn about each pathway so they can choose the right career for themselves,” Lone Star senior Tetiana Bahinska said. “I’m doing hospitality and tourism, it is something that I will do in the future and that is why I am taking hotel management at CTE.”

The career fair is not only a learning experience for the students attending, but for those who are representing their respective classes and careers.

“ I am currently at the career center at Panther Creek,” Reedy senior Michael Stanford said. “I think it is really beneficial because not only do they get to grow more as a person but also boost their confidence. For example, just last week I was at a middle school presentation with my friends. At first we were all a bit nervous because we didn’t know what we were talking about.”
