Both boys’ and girls’ soccer took on 6A teams Friday in scrimmages, but came out with mixed results. The boys had their first win of the season when they beat McKinney High 2-0, while the girls lost to Rock Hill 1-0.
Beating Mckinney was a huge win for the boys’ helping build up their confidence, according to senior Rylan Lee. Lee attributed to one of the teams’ goals when he scored a penalty kick off of a handball call.
“It feels really good as we got our first win of the season, especially against an opponent like Mckinney,” Lee said. “We hope to keep the momentum going.”
With the girls’ losing, head girls’ coach Kyle Beggs doesn’t want the girls getting too caught up in the results.
“Honestly, I think we played very well, we just made a mistake in one point in the game little inexperience in some areas, and that led to a goal,” Beggs said. “That happens, and we learn from it and get better.”
