Before the long weekend, the Redhawks girls’ basketball team faced off against Independence in their first game of the second half of District 10-5A play with the Redhawks soaring over Independence in a 52-8 win.
“Independence is doing the best they can,” coach Ross Reedy said. “Our girls come out and being able to play multiple bodies and get them viable varsity minutes was important to us.”
Heading into Tuesday’s game, the Redhawks take on what many believe to be their biggest competitor for the second time this season, Memorial. The girls will face off against the Warriors on Tuesday at the Nest at 5:45 p.m.
“I feel confident in my team and teammates that we will do great,” junior Anaiah Warrior said. “I hope to take in something from this game, I don’t just mean the win, I want to learn something and improve my game.”
The first time around the Redhawks defeated Memorial 71-51.
“We’re going to try to play solid,” Reedy said. “We probably showed them more than they showed us last time. And so just gonna go at them, see if different personnel can get on the floor, and seeing how we can find some success against a really good team.”
