A list I keep in my notes app is a list of movies to watch. This is an ongoing list that I’m constantly adding and checking movies off of.
More times than I’d like to admit, I’ve spent more time choosing something to watch than actually watching it. Having access to essentially unlimited content can be overwhelming. Keeping a list of movies that I’ve found interesting or have heard good things about, reduces this time of contemplation.
A few unwatched movies that are currently on my list are Dìdi, Aftersun, and the whole Star Wars series.
Dìdi is a new movie I added to my list after seeing the trailer while watching another movie at the theater. It is a coming of age story about a Taiwanese American teenage boy during the summer before high school.
Aftersun has been sitting in my list for quite some time. I added it to my list mostly because it is an A24 film, the company behind several of my favorite movies. Because of the sad and emotional nature of the movies, I think I have been subconsciously avoiding this one.
Star Wars is on my list primarily out of FOMO. I feel like everyone has seen Star Wars but me, and I don’t understand any of the references. At some point I think I’ll just sit down and knock it out, even just to say that I’ve seen it.
Keeping this list in my notes app never fails to be of use when I’m trying to pick a movie to watch. It helps eliminate my indecisiveness and prevents me from forgetting about the movies I would want to watch.
