Although the softball team (9-2) didn’t break any school records in Tuesday’s home game against Heritage (0-11) like they did the last time the two teams met, the Redhawks still held the Coyotes scoreless to secure a 17-0 win. Not only is the team now on a four-game winning streak, but they now have two consecutive shutouts.
“A district win is always a big deal, and winning by 17 runs is definitely something to be proud of,” head coach Tiffany Thayer said. “Our team goals are to maintain a .300 batting average and keep errors under two per game.”
Junior Anna Reeves feels conformity was the key to the win.
“The energy was great, and it really felt like we were all on the same page,” Reeves said. “It was awesome to see everything come together.”
With hit after hit after hit, the Redhawks met their goals both physically and mentally.
“Just as important are our mental goals—playing as one team, staying focused, aggressive, and supportive, and keeping our energy high,” Thayer said. “We hit all of those marks. Our batting average was well over .300, and we finished with just two errors.”
