The search for next year’s cheerleaders is set to begin with a mandatory parent/candidate meeting Monday in the auditorium starting at 6 p.m.

“We will cover the following information with parents and students the tryout process, judging criteria, clinic work week schedule, camp information, and financial obligations,” varsity cheer coach Kandy Stevens said.

There is a three day clinic March 5-7 from 5-7 p.m. which Stevens recommends cheer candidates attend.

“Attend all three days of clinic to learn the tryout material and have the opportunity to practice in the environment they will be trying out in,” Kandy said. “Have fun and relax!”

Tryouts are March 8 with results being posted on March 9 after 4:30 p.m.

“The actual tryout was pretty difficult, because you could be like the most experienced cheerleader ever but when you’re actually trying out you get so scared and you’re like shaking when you’re standing there so probably just the initial tryout, the material’s not that hard though,” senior Payton Reynolds said. “If you’re trying out for the first time I’d say just smile a lot, that’s really what matters like it doesn’t matter if you have good tumbling or good jumps it’s more about just your presence and how happy you look.”
