Time may be out for anybody looking to snag some Girl Scoutscookies as sales have ended in many areas with students on campus still searching for their favorite box.

“I think there’s such a big craze associated with Girl Scouts cookies because they’re so limited, you are only allowed to get them a certain time of year,” teacher Justin Koons said. “Other companies have tried to generate a Girl Scout type cookie and you can still buy those at the story, but they’re not the same. They don’t really taste the same. It’s a one of a kind thing.”

The concept of having Girl Scout Cookies available for only a limited time helps increase profits.

“It’s a part of the season kind of deal,” Koons said. “It usually starts around December time and ends around March. So this way, you only have a short period of time to get your Girl Scouts cookies. The anticipation is highly rewarded and people will even buy 20 boxes at a time, because they know that this is the only time they’ll be able to get the real deal.”

The money raised to helps fund Girl Scouts activities all over America.

“The purpose of Girl scouts cookies in the first place is to raise money for Girl Scouts of America,” freshman, Girl Scouts’ Hudaa Dadani said. “The money gets combined from all the troops and they get sent to each area for funds and this provides a gateway for all of our other events.”

Though Girl Scouts cookies are seen as a treat, there is a more meaningful perspective to it.

“It teaches us really valuable things,” freshman, Girl Scouts’ Lalima Karri said. “First of all, it encourages you to be more social and persuasive when you’re talking to people in the hopes of selling a box or two. It prepares you for the future, giving you a sense of responsibility and even a couple business skills that would be useful for when the time comes. I think girl scouts is a great way to branch out and enjoy yourself while learning some things that will help you in the long run as well.”
