The school board held a rezoning workshop Tuesday night that resulted in slightly revised rezoning recommendations for Lebanon Trail High School. These new recommendations would have students south of Stacy Road and east of Custer Road no longer moving from the Independence zone to the Liberty zone during the 2016-2017 school year. However, the final decision will be made at the board meeting on December 14.

The rezoning has been criticized by parents recently for splitting up siblings of different grades, but as of right now that has not been addressed by the board.

“If you look out four years, you see it gradually does make a difference in the Liberty/Independence numbers,” FISD deputy superintendent for business services Richard Wilkinsons said in an article for Dallas News.  “So that’s not to say that we won’t have to look at some adjustments at a later date.”
