The boys and girls basketball teams return to their usual Tuesday and Friday game schedules for district play, with both teams playing Heritage at The Nest Tuesday starting at 6 p.m.

The girls team squeaked by Centennial on Saturday 45-44 to put them 2nd in district, behind Wakeland. The young team has played against tough competition over the past weeks, challenging Tennessee state champion Blackman and the top team in Arkansas, Conway, in the Sandra Meadows Classic.

The boys are coming off a dominant performance against Centennial, winning 60-39 and continuing the perfect start in district, which has had them winning their district games by an average of 19 points per game.

“I feel pretty good about how we’ve been competing lately,” head coach Marcus Eckert said. “The thing about Heritage is that even if their record isn’t good, they’re capable of playing really well. They’re a very inconsistent team, but when they play well, they have a tendency to score a lot of points and get up and defend well. We’ve got to be on our A game and we keep telling the boys we have a target on our back and every team in district is going to try to give us a loss.”
