In addition to the annual fundraisers many clubs and organizations around campus hold, the National Art Honor Society will be holding its first Valentine’s Day fundraiser in hopes of donating to an art documentary.

“We’re raising funds to donate to a documentary that is being made about a man named Frank Reaugh, one of the first artists in Texas, and known as the father of Texas art and the fundraising money will go as a donation from Liberty’s National Art Honor Society to that documentary,” art teacher Pernie Fallon said.

NAHS is selling customized bears with personal messages, with one bear costing $4.00 and three bears costing $10.00.

“Members of NAHS are going to assemble the bears later, so we’ll have the messages in the front and we’ll roll it up and tie it to the bear,” junior and NAHS officer Linh-Hoa Nguyen said.

By incorporating teddy bears, the club is hoping to give students a more permanent way of showing their affection for their friends and significant others.

“We wanted something that would last and the teddy bears are always fun to cuddle with and keep as a memory,” Fallon said. “We also wanted people to be able to write messages to each other so each bear will have a unique message to the person getting it.”
