Halloween is always an exciting time to let loose and enjoy yourself without the stress of school, so I know I definitely took advantage of it.

Now that October is over, Christmas is coming up and it’s all I can think about now. I cannot wait to get into the holiday spirit. But with this comes the angel tree project that Frisco ISD offers classes to take part of.

Each class can choose to participate in the angel tree opportunity and then they are assigned an angel (a child) to shop for. Angels are usually children who are less fortunate than us, so they get the chance to make a list of all the things they wish to receive for Christmas, and as a class, everyone shops for that angel based off of that list.

I think this is a super thoughtful and generous thing that we do. I’ve been enrolled in FISD schools for about eight years, and for as long as I can remember, they do this as a way to give back.

My class chose to participate in this and I absolutely cannot wait to receive the list of our angel so we can start shopping for them.

Because Frisco is a pretty successful and fortunate area, I think the ability we have to give back, even if it’s only a little bit, can really open our eyes and put things into perspective. I know it does for me. Sometimes I get so busy with everything going on around me that I forget to take a step back and be grateful for all of the things that I have been blessed with. And I think this opportunity helps us do that.

I hope you guys convince all of your friends to participate in this heartwarming tradition.
