After a four game winning streak led to a championship in the Mavs Fall Classic, the girls basketball team will play again in the Allen Hoopfest on Thursday.

Entering Thursday’s game with a 4-1 record, the Redhawks look to pay attention to the little things leading up to this tournament.

“To physically and mentally see yourself is a big advantage,” head coach Ross Reedy said. “We use the film room a ton. It helps you see it, and you can make the connection between things that your coaches are saying and things you’ve heard and seen on the court. The more you play, the more you see yourself the more you build up your basketball IQ.”

With this being second tournament in the span of two weeks, preparations are simple.

“Defensively, we are going to sharpen up our defensive principles,” Reedy said. “Offensively we are going to talk mostly about the thinking part, what we are looking for when we do things, where our gaps are, where we should be attacking. We want to find a way for the kids to still to play freely but not so they are confused on what they are doing when they are out there playing.”

Even though this is a quick turnaround for the team, the Redhawks are still focused.

“We have been really dialed in,” junior Jezelle Jolie Moreno said. “The team has been really focused everyday on practice and in the film room.”
