In this weekly column, Wingspan staff reporter Rhea Advani provides her take on a variety of topics.

I’ve always been the type of person to want to plan out everything. Make a time schedule or write out everything in a planner and make sure I follow it precisely and accordingly. But when something didn’t go my way as I planned, it would frustrate me.

Planning everything out was the only way I could ensure that everything I want to get done, gets done.

But over time, I learned that things are never going to be perfect. You will plan out your day, and all of a sudden something will pop up, and your plan won’t get fulfilled.

I’ve learned that it’s okay if that happens. No, it may not be convenient, but the most surprising things come when you least expect it.

Now, I’m referring to your social life more than your academic one. It’s important to stay on track with your schoolwork and turn in your work on time.

But when it comes to hanging out with friends and going out, if things don’t always go how you plan them to, it’s probably for the best. The best memories I’ve made are the ones that happen when I don’t even plan them out.

So here’s your sign to let loose sometimes and not be so strict with the things you plan out, because you never know what adventures could pop up in its place.
