Scouting out their competition for the following week, the Redhawks are on the hunt for improvement looking to progress before the end of the season. With under four games left, both the boys’ and girls’ teams are giving it all they have.

Redhawk soccer faced the Frisco Raccoons on Tuesday in District 9-5A matchups, with improvement from both the girls and the boys since last time they faced Frisco.

Aiming for redemption after losing to Frisco earlier in the season, the girls came out strong against the Raccoons.

“We played very well last night against Frisco,” senior Kennedy Clountz said. “They are a very good team but we stuck with them the entire game. Every single player on the field played to their best ability and it was definitely a team effort.”

It was a large improvement for the girls, finishing with a 3-3 draw against the Raccoons.

“The team improved on working more as a team instead of individuals,” Clountz said. “Last time we played them we weren’t connecting passes and we all just wanted to score ourselves but this game we worked together and scored as a team.”

A 4-3 win against the Raccoons from the boys brings their undefeated season to 10-0-5 in District 9-5A, placing them in second place just one point behind Lone Star in the district standings.

“Overall they worked extremely hard,” head coach Evan McGee said. “A lot of hard work from the guys on the field, and they don’t back down and they’re not scared of whoever they’re playing.”
