For the first time in two years, the Esports Club Valorant team has made it to the playoffs that start Monday. Going 7-1 during the spring season, the team enters as the number one team in Texas.

“I’ve been really enjoying seeing the teamwork together and it’s clear that the team is enjoying the competition and watching them practice so much more than I first thought is exciting,” club sponsor Chris Ham said. “I’m excited to see how well they do and I’m confident that they’re strong enough to face any challenges they have.”

Competition is everything for team captain Grayson Farese, and he can’t wait to show what the team has to offer as they compete in the playoffs.

“We’ve put in a lot of hard work and our time into practicing to become the best we can over the spring season and now it’s all come to this run, which we can hopefully go far in,” Farese said. “This being the last season for the club, we want to make sure that we represent them the best we can as well as the school we’re under.”

Coach Jerry Bui wants the team’s all going into this playoff run as it’s his last try at a trophy as a senior, and while he is confident in them, he knows that the team isn’t perfect.

“I’ve helped the team polish their mistakes and that the most important thing for them is to keep their composure and know that we will win it all with a good mentality,” Bui said. “I know the team is strong but our biggest challenge is keeping communication at 100% because if that falls apart, so do our chances at winning.”
