Cross country has two meets left before the District 10-5A meet and is heading to South Lakes Park on Saturday for the Garmin MileSplit TX XC Invitational, where the Redhawks are looking to find late season improvements.

“The focus is to stay healthy but improve, the team’s main goal is to prepare for districts and regionals in the upcoming weeks and this meet is a stepping stone towards that,” coach Ben Manning said. “Health is extremely important this late into the season, we want all of our runners in the best shape and injury free.”

Junior Sydni Wilkins is heading to South Lakes for the first time and wants to set a personal record while keeping her legs fresh.

“This is definitely a course you can PR on, so I’m focusing on trying to get closer to that 17 minute time and I’m hoping the flatness will help me go faster,” Wilkins said. “I’ve had a few minor tweaks now and then, but the trainers have been awesome with treating us and keeping us healthy.”
