The girls’ basketball team saw a win over the Emerson Mavericks on Wednesday. They hold on to their first ranked position in District 10-5A, and bring their record to 8-1.

Facing DeSoto and North Forney Thursday and Friday, the girls’ basketball team soared above North Forney, winning 48-32, but fell short to DeSoto, losing 48-35.

“We could really improve on being more in the gaps when the person has the ball and being in space,” senior Journee Harris said. “We could also work on boxing and boarding every possession and looking to get rebounds.”

With the loss against DeSoto, the Redhawks four game winning streak came to an end.

“Obviously, it is frustrating,” sophomore Kathryn Murphy said. “But the DeSoto game was not a district game, those start this week against Memorial. Any loss is tough, but we shouldn’t focus on it too much, as districts are starting.”
