The boys’ basketball team faced off against Emerson High School in the opening game of District 10-5A play at The Nest on Tuesday, winning 75-47.

“We were able to play to a high standard throughout the game and that’s a good sign for the future, as long as they keep it up going forward,” head coach Stephen Friar. “The boys also executed the scouting report well, and that’s beneficial for us since it gives us an advantage in preparation.”

With the win, the Redhawks are able to enter winter break with a solid foundation and minor injuries but are still looking to grow to their full strength.

“We got out there pretty quickly and controlled the tempo early which really played in our favor,” senior Kaden Groom said. “It’s great to start off district play with a win, but we can’t get too hung up on it and move forward with improvements for the rest of the season.”
