Both the boys’ and girls’ soccer teams take on the Emerson Mavericks in District 10-5A play at the Nest Friday.

Still searching for their first district win, the boys hope to accomplish that against Emerson.

“I feel like we could be doing better this season, but I know we will be getting back on track soon,” junior Akshat Singh said. “We could work on defending our leads, but we are still motivated to start getting wins on the board, starting with our game against Emerson.”

With Emerson opening in 2021 and in their first varsity season, the Redhawks have never played the Mavericks.

“You don’t know what to expect from them,” girls’ head coach Kyle Beggs said. “You don’t know what kind of players they have, or have developed and all that kinda stuff. So yeah, it can be challenging from that regard, however we just tell the girls to play their game.”

Senior Lili Adams agrees with Beggs, and hopes the girls come out with a win.

“I do think its harder to play Emerson,” Adams said. “They are a team we have never seen or played before. We don’t know how they play, or who their go to players are, but as a team we hope to have another solid.”
