Sprinting into the season, the track and field team heads to Little Elm Lobo Stadium for the Little Elm Lobo Invitational on Saturday at 8:00 a.m.

“We kind of have our routine set this late in the season,” head coach Khera Vay said. “So to prepare for the meet we have done some speed stuff, some speed endurance, we just kind of go through everything we need to do to fine tune kind of what we’ve been working on the rest of the season.”

Achieving a personal record is something junior Kayla Winter is aiming for.

“My goal tomorrow is to do my part in the 4×4 and get a PR in the 400m,” Winter said. “We’ve been preparing for Saturday by doing event specific workouts, lifting, and doing specialty work.”

With districts coming close, the team is hoping to secure some top finishes on Saturday.

“At Invitational meets we just ask that they do their best depending on what the week looks like will depend on if anybody PRs,” Vay said. “But this is our final meet before district so hopefully we have some kids run some really good times and kind of figure out the pieces of the puzzle to try to go in and district championship.”
